I think I have done everything to remove dashboard except one. That is removing the 3 screws near the windshield. I tried using my stubby 1/4" drive with a shallow socket but can't get it on the screw head when attached to ratchet. What to do? All help is appreciated.

Yes they are hard to get to. I used two tool sets:
- 1/4" ratchet and socket with a universal knuckle.
- off set ring spanner
See picture.

There is only one thing more pleasurable than working on a Z3, that's driving it top down on a fine day.
Went to Harbor Freight today to pick up a tarp....found a set of offset box wrenches (see pic). I was surprised that after 3-4 turns with the wrench how easily the screw was removed....used my fingers. Also, never seen a washer like the ones on the screw (see pic). Anyway, they are removed and now onto removing the A-frame trim pieces. That should be it. Hopefully the dashboard will release without a whole lot of effort....(fingers crossed)

Maybe a recess into which the end of the cover clips. Mentioned in this DIY:

Thanks to you guys for your help...finally got dashboard removed. Unfortunately cracked panel nearest windshield...didn't know it was attached with 6 screws. However I think it could be extremely difficult to Remove them from inside the car. Any thoughts?

The 6 screws holding the panel can NOT be removed while dashboard is in the car. The safest way to prevent cracking the panel is to remove the windshield...then the dashboard. The 2nd photo is a Coupe dashboard. There are NO screws. I just realized the difference. I purchased this Coupe dashboard because it has extended leather like mine did when I bought my Roadster. However, it had issues and when I saw this dashboard on eBay with extended leather, I made the purchase...not knowing it was from a Coupe. It appears to be the same size. I hope it fits. Anyone know how I can determine this before beginning the installation?
