    Advice for a first car

    Greetings everybody.
I'm an aspiring bimmer and joined this forum looking for advises, my question is : what BMW would make a good first car ?(original heh)
There ain't many available, so my options are pretty limited, here is what i can afford:
    -525i E34
    -320i/d/Ci E46
    -525i/d E39
    -Some butchered E36
Guess that i can't gave it all yet want to have the best bang for my bucks (something relatively sporty, comfortable, reliable and fun)
    Looking for your answers

    What is your budget?
Can you work on the car yourself?

General rules for a first car:

    Cheap
    Slow
    Small
    Manual

You don't want something sporty, because statistically speaking you'll regret it. Or get a British sports car like I did and pretend it's fast.

Are E30s difficult to find? If you're able to find one, I may go that route for your budget - esp if you're able to work on it. Could be a very fun car.

I think it will be hard for you to find this car series, it doesn't matter if it is an old or new model for as long as you like it. BTW, how much is your budget?

I wouldn’t say they’re unreliable. They’re just your typical bmw that they’re getting to age where they are hitting 100-150k where that’s where stuffs gonna fail. Yes the engines tend to burn oil. Cooling system tends to fail because of plastics but typical bmw fault with hoses, water pumps, rad, and expansion tank usually. Suspension bushings need upgrades (typical wear). Gaskets, again old rubber from age. Little shit that shouldn’t be plastic like window and lock regulators will break. There’s a few other things I think but nothing E46 only.
