Well, I found one.
2001 740i Sport, 91,150 miles. The PO had a Dinan CAI installed but he removed it for sale. It had a DINAN 7 badge on it just for the CAI, now it just says 7 (ha).
Anthracite with Black
Already finding things to fix, mostly cosmetic. However, I have a faint whine that is rpm related and may be coming from the TC or trans. Fluid and filter change and we'll see. Oil and coolant will also be changed out soon. Engine seems tight, drove it from Northern CA to home, 320 miles, average 75.4 mph and 24.7 mpg. Has a full screen, almost ran off the road playing with the buttons...
My daughter decided she wants the old 740iL in my sig pic so I'll be dropping in another motor in that one and doing some cosmetic upgrades so it's "cool" again for her. When she saw this this morning she said "Whoa, that's nice! Can I have this one instead!"..."NO!"
For those interested, the e34 in the background is my original BMW, purchased at the Frankfurt Military Car Sales office in late 1994, its a 1995. In the family ever since. Went through a complete rebuild with mods, engine, suspension, interior, paint, and all, my second daughter drives that and loves it, she doesn't want any other car. Anthrazit remains one of the best colours for the E38. And rgao is right, the shadowline does take age off the package.
Stupid question... do all sports package cars retain the chrome headlight washer nozzles? I didn't think so.

Made me think that I should install shadowline replacing my chrome trims. They are failing anyway, I just wish they were cheaper tho!

Just found out this thing also has a DINAN tune. This thing does pull like a train. Hope I don't get a speeding ticket.

Hey Chris, I also will be putting an Alpina Lip on it and a trunk lip, so basically making it like yours. Searching for a DINAN CAI to get a few more ponies out of it to match the DINAN tune and then rebadge it as a DINAN 7.

^ It took me a few moments but I saw it, that’s funny. The problem is the SR-71 is now a 50 min drive since I don’t work on Edwards AFB anymore, but I might end up there after I spruce up the new 7 a bit. What I really want to do is get all the Bimmers I have together for a “family” photo. Maybe next week when my daughter comes home with her e46 vert we’ll all be together.
for those of you in SoCal, I’m considering another SoCal Alpina Lip order from Poland. I’d like to put one on the new 7 and if we can get about 10 orders I think the price drops to less than $100 each, including shipping.
