I fear Merc will dominate this weekend again. Red Bull might come a close second.

Possible that Red Bull will have a bigger advantage here than the Mercs or the Ferraris.

Sunday weather will be 71*(F) and partly cloudy. If Mercs cannot get the tires to work in the cooler temps, it could be a red bull 1-2. Is Pirelli bringing hyper-soft tires?

****FP1&2 are run Thursday at Monaco, they will be aired on ESPNU at 5AM est, and ESPNews at 9AM est.

Weren't they really strong in practice at Azerbaijan as well, then really fell back during quali and to a lesser degree the race?

It seems like the Renault teams are a decent bit down on engine power in quali modes to Merc and Ferrari, but they are pretty close in their race modes.

    +1

If anyone missed the race, the few minute highlights on F1.com or youtube will save you an hour and a half.

If Daniel did not have an issue, he would have been 20+ seconds ahead of Vettel. How many total passes happened on track?

Always been fan of Flavio Briatore and his observations are usually correct. At the pre race:
FB(smiling):Look, now when the grid girls are gone we have more girls then ever before.
MB:Aaa, if we keep talking about this we will get in trouble.

    TBD
The need to make monaco a mechanical grip only circuit - remove all wings.

Kimi was right: doesn't matter how much faster you are you cannot overtake.

Look at Max - the fastest car on track (as evidenced by Danny's pole) and he was really battling to overtake an could only end up 9th.

For one thing, today's cars are huge and leave no space on the track for anything but a procession.

Race was super boring, but the place was packed. I always pay attention to empty seats, and this time there were none, plus more people on the balconies. Race was also played after Indy 500 in its entirety on local ABC channel. So Liberty is doing something

This is the real problem. I was watching footage from Monaco 1974 and they look like toys compared to these cars. I enjoyed the race. I thought Ricciardo did a great job, felt horrible for Alonso again, and the lack of pace vs the cars' potential didn't seem to help Ferrari at all.
Interested in vintage cars? Ever thought about racing one?

Monaco F1 Time Attack format would be more interesting.

I fell asleep somewhere around lap 14 (worked night before) and apparently didn't miss anything. Cool.

Honestly I agree with Alonso and Lewis that something needs to be done about this track. I get that it's nostalgic, but it's not really racing when there are like 4 passes over 70+ laps because half the track is too narrow to fit two modern F1 cars side by side.

The circuit is not the problem. It's the size of the cars.

I agree, the cars are just too much for this track, unless you switch to a time attack type format. Throw all the drivers in karts or a smaller spec-formula car just for Monaco?
