How to raise rev limit of M44

My car's a European M44, with OBDI cable accessible from the engine bay.

Is it relatively easy raising the rev limit using NCS? Does anyone have a short guide regarding this?

Serioys question but why? Can it actually safely make more power at higher rpms?

I'm not looking for power but more availability in high rpm downshifting. Fuel cut is too aggressive over 6700 rpm stock ECU.
I know that these engines will only rev to 7200 rpm on a stock harmonic balancer and anything over that will kill the engine.

Don't forget that even though the ECU will kill the engine at 6700 or 7200 (not sure which), nothing will stop the engine from revving to 8000 RPM or more if you downshift at too high a speed and overdrive it. Our old racecar would cut the fuel at 500 RPM over redline, but the data would still show downshifts at more than 1000 RPM above redline.

This is the vid I took at this weekend's track day. Also my first one with Z3 as well
I think the engine loves to rev in general, but fuel cut is set at 6700 rpm which I think is a bit too safe.
I will be joining series race this year so this is definitely one of the first mods I'm looking forward to do.

Does anyone have recommendation for tools to upload and edit the current map?

Tuning the 4cyl DME is not something many here have done. You may find better answers over on 318ti.org forums. Same engine.

Start by reading the ecu flash. You can probably do it with the cheap usb cables and Galletto 1260 program.
If you do get a read, post if up and maybe I can find your rev limiter.

Does Galletto 1260 support OBDI? I have 20 pin cable.

    It's not "obd1".
It's K-line diagnostics at the 20-pin port. Yes galletto reads and writes K-line.
