    Lug Bolts

Pulled the fronts off my 1991 850 and found 9 Lug Bolt of three different lengths. The Shortest of the three have about six threads of engagement. They are all going into the recycling bin.

Standard BMW E31 rims, no spacers

    What is the standard size? Pelicanparts lists M12 x 1.5 in the following lengths 22, 24, 28, 29, 30, 35, 38, 43, etc etc

I cant figure out how to post a picture

Rule of thumb: the thread “engagement” of the bolt should be as deep as the width of the bolt itself, i.e., if the bolt is 12mm in diameter, you want at least 12mm into the hub.

    Thanks

I looked at the 26MM ones again and they exceed the rule of thumb. What I thought they were engaging to was wrong. Plus all of the other mismatched ones threw me off

Now to finish up on my Valve Body in the Transmission

Be careful with “longer” bolts as they will interfere with the emergency brake components in the rear hubs.
