I've been repainting my interior door panels and in the process of reinstalling I somehow managed to dislodge the two metal clips that hold the switch in place. So far I've managed to fit the clips into the grooves on the switch but when I go to push the switch into place either one, or both clips will rocket out the backside into the door panel. I'm ready to super glue the switch and clips together but I feel like there is a more graceful solution to this issue.
If anyone has any experience or advice with this i'd greatly appreciate it. I was hoping Johan's site would have covered this already but no luck.
Turns out I wasn't pressing hard enough on the clips and they weren't fully fitted into the switch. Two minutes with some needle nose pliers and all is back to normal.
Sorry for the boring Monday post, promise to have something more "interesting" in the future

Good that you have not lost the clips, they are not available as single item. Many disappear inside the door.
Once I could somehow remake such a clips on a friend's E32 from a spring metal piece which hold the back plates of picture frames. Any spring steel will do, just file it to size.
BTW: in case the plug breaks which goes into the switch, the p/n is 61131378126, I just got 4 pieces from the dealer as spare.
