Have you attempted any type of diagnostic scan?
Moved to E38 forum.
Could be the immobilizer.
EWS III module.
Get a BMW scan on it and see whats going on.

Do you have a Check Engine Light on? It could be a number of things from the crank sensor to a dead fuel pump.

02' R1200 CLC, hit by a bus and broken in half. That one made the news!
It's like herpes there is no cure but if treated properly you can live with it for the rest of your life

That should have nothing to do with your no-start issue.
A scan for BMW codes is needed to reveal why the CEL is on.

You need to do some basic testing:
Check for sparks by removing a coil-over-plug unit, fitting a spare plug in it, reconnect the loom and rest the plug on a metal surface of the engine
Get someone to crank the engine - do you get sparks?

Follow whatever testing procedure Timm recommends, he knows these vehicles very well.
