    Ews m73 alignment help!

    1998 Bmw 750il

Inpa was able to tell me that a "Error with ecu pw"

    It won't crank.

    Battery Brand New

    Checked all the fuses

    I only have 1 key.

I tried a battery nap. Still wont start.

It started doing this a few day ago. Everything will power up but it wont crank or start. I unplug the battery & plug it back in a few hours later it started. Now it wont do anything.

I tried the Inpa method. It won't connect to the m73 dme.

    All help is greatly appreciated

That doesn't sound like EWS/DME alignment - it sounds more like either a failing starter motor (most likely), or - and it is worth checking - that the instrument cluster actually shows the shifter is in Park!

Ok. Its in P. I hope it not the starter motor. It doesn't seem easy to get to. The key barrel is a little iffy at times. It has spun fully without engaging. How can determine if its the starter?

Update. I discovered the 50 amp fuse under my passenger side floor in position 8 is blown. I not 100 percent sure that would cause my no start issue but it is tied into the immobilizer system. I'll replace it tomorrow. The floor was also soaked. Looks like ill be checking the sunroof drains as well the door ones.

It's common if the windshield is replaced. Everything works in my car but it's sure crusty under the carpet.

Ok I need major help with this one.

    What I've done

1.Check every fuse (50 amp fuse under passenger carpet was blown. Replaced it all is well.

    2.Bought a new battery

3.Bought a new ignition switch. Mines was having issue before.

    4. Re sync the key . The remote bottons did not work when I bought the car.

What the car car is doing.

    1. I battery nap the car for almost two days. The I jumped started it from the hood. It started.

    2. Like a idiot I cleared the throttle adaptions. So the car didn't respond to me giving it gas. No worries I was able to get it was able to relearn

    3. I go to start it nothing! I try jumping it nothing.

    4. Passenger floor was soaked. I check for water elsewhere. I found it at the bottom of the ebox under the relays!!! I cleaned & dried everything.

    5. Another start. Nothing. But the key gets stuck in the cylinder!!! I took back cable off nothing. I took the ignition switch off nothing. The steering wheel is in the lock position. It wont release & the key wont come out. The car is in park

    6. I haven't had this car but 4 months. But I feel like I'm uncovering more issue with it. Which I knew was coming. But i need this thing to at least be drivable while I fix everything lol.

    Any advice please chime in.

I already spoke to Dima about aligning the ews. I'm not 100 percent sure thats the issue.

    What I've noticed.

I hear 1 click from the relay next to the ews when I try to start the car.

I hear no clicks from the relay under the computers. The battery hovers around 12.4 before I attempt to start the car.

I'm leaning towards the starter more then the ews because it will start randomly after a battery nap with or with out a jump start.

    Could it be a relay?

    Ews

    Brake switch

bad key( I only have one)

EWS alignment is rather easy with INPA, you can do it yourself.I'd start with that one.

Sounding more like the starter - alignment problems are not intermittent - they go wrong and have to be realigned and don''t magically work sometimes.

Any way of testing it before I go pulling stuff apart?

I thought you had INPA up and running from your first post. If Timm is saying it's not EWS/DME alignment then it is not Regardless, getting INPA working is necessary with these cars.
