Non-protection 2001 740 with metal sunroof?

Was the 2001 made with a metal roof? It's a late production model. Never seen an E38 other than a protection or a 1995 with a metal sunroof.

Yes late production run had steel, I have read they ran out of glass . Mine is steel as well.

Glass was an option, also it was a part of a package one comes with metal, the other with glass, by default all 750’s were with glass, and in Europe all 6’s were with metal and if I’m not mistaken all diesel powered e38’s were with metal

In the US most of the production was glass AFAIK. Very late production - I've only seen it on 7/2001 cars - occasionally has metal and seems to skip the IR windshield as well.

Both my 740 and 750 are metal, more common then glass in NZ

Also, there was no protection with sunroof/moonroof

My 2000 740iL has security glass and a metal sunroof.
