Hi everyone,
It is unfortunately time to thin the herd a little, which means that I'm reluctantly letting go of my 1987 535iS.
The very good:
The car has been in this family for the better part of the last three decades, so it has been very very well cared for.
Exterior paint/interior leather is probably 8.5/10 to 9/10
ALMOST everything works in it
It has sat in a heated garage during the entire time and the exterior shows it.
Central lock unit replaced last year
Car has had fluids maintained throughout life
Engine pulls very strong
The Not Bad:
ODO replaced by my uncle 15 years ago or so, so it reads 128K miles or so, but it's more than that
It was only really used around town, less than a 5 mile commute to work and back during the time of his ownership
During my ownership (the last 6 years or so) I've maybe put 500/year on it.
The radio antenna needs to be replaced
Two very small cracks in the dash, easily reparable with black epoxy fill and light light sand.
The Not Awesome, but Not Terrible
There is some rust on the lower rockers, underside, not noticeable from looking at the car.
Repairable, but will need to cut rockers and replace.
All other panels are solid with zero rust.
The easily fixed with new suspension:
At the end of last summer (2017) the left front strut perch broke while I was driving at about 25MPH. I pulled the car over immediately, however, as part of that, the front left fender looks like it had an amateur fender rolling job at the 12 o'clock position on the fender, which should be an easy repair - no need to replace fender, this is simple body work.
So the car will need new suspension - might as well do it all, with a nice lowering job.
This thing turns heads when out and about, it's a rare bird overall.
I'd be looking for $7500 OBRO
Thank you very much.
P.S. Honestly, I have no idea how to make Panjo work, so I posted it in this section.
