I have recently replaced both MAF's on my 1991 pre cat 850i. The orginals had a blanking plug that covered a screw adjustment, the new ones do not have the blanking plug. Do you need to adjust this screw to tune the new ones to your car, or do you simply replace the old for the new.
I would check, you will need an exhaust gas analyser to monitor the CO while you adjust each MAF, be aware right MAF is left exhaust :-) Try and get the CO as low as possible whilst maintaining a steady idle(probably somewhere between .3 and 1.0. Make sure you are at normal engine temp.

Up to July 1992 you are allowed 3.5% CO so you should be ok.
Adjust MAF's? How do you do that?
