Is the coolant spilling over the Reservoir? If thats the Case you need to bleed youre cooling system was the Same with my 7 series...., the Metal tapping is a whole 'nother Story though...Wish i could Help you there...maybe the Timing Chain is failing again? Or maybe the cylinders havent gotten enough oil? Hard to Tell anything since i own a 725 though, Wish you the best at repairing the Car! Good luck!

Too bad you aren't closer. Getting ready to dump my old '96 DD. PO overheated the car at 167k and had dealer install new engine. Has about 80k on it I believe. My sons been driving it on and off the last couple of years and it's been sitting outside. Smoothness on INPA really good on all cylinders. Damage to front bumper from blown tire. Normal leaks in the engine, worn drivers seat and such. Even have and extra transmission from one of the part outs I did. All for $500. I am going to throw in an Icebox for a few hundred more.

Now this is tempting... My '98 is in good shape (just have to find a steady small coolant leak of about 8 oz. per 1000 miles, which is worse with the heat on. Hope it's not the heater core but one of the ancient hoses). But it has 171k miles on it and the Achilles heel of timing chain guides is always in the back of my mind. Wondering about swapping engines, especially since the inevitable M62 leaks are a lot easier to fix with the engine on a stand!
I'm about 300 miles southeast of you but about to take a long summer vacation.

Replied to your PM. I just checked and the engine is right at 100k. Waiting to hear back from a family member. Also listed on the local KC BMW page. Not on CL yet.

Still clean enough! Few trips to the pick and pull and it will be whole!
