Some Dash Lights are constantly on...

    2005 325ci

I went on vacation came back after a month my battery was dead. I jumped the battery and ever since then some dash lights have been stuck on. the windshield washer light, the brake light, DSC, and tire pressure .

These are the only ones that are constantly on after jumping the car. they are lit up orange, i noticed when i put the emergency brake on the light turns red.

I tried to reset it by watching some videos on youtube by disconnectiing the battery but it didnt work.

Does someone know how to fix this? Im thinking it's perhaps a relay? or could it be voltage regulator and the battery like someone else had said?

I've tried searching the forums and google for the issue that i'm sure someone has had before but no luck!!

Any help would be appreciated , Thnx!

Did you replace the battery? Google “BMW E46 hidden OBC functions.” Test #9 will show you the voltage as seen by the engine computer (DME in BMWspeak). Check and report back the voltage when the:
    - ignition is in the “on” position with the engine off
    - engine idling
    - engine revving at 2000rpm.

Theres no relay that’d cause this issue.

No, I didn't change the battery. The car drove fine after I got it started, just those lights came on. Ok I'll do the test, and update the post. Thx

Ok did the test here are the results

    13.8 on position engine off
    13.8-14, engine idling
    14.1 engine revved

    13.2-13.8 with air condition on

So is your battery charged and OK now, or do you still need to jumpstart the car every time?
13,8V is quite high if the engine is not running..

Yellow lights mean error, so scan the car with INPA or have someone do it for you and see what's wrong. It might just need to be cleared and then everything is fine..

The car runs and starts fine , haven't had to jump it since then.
Ok maybe I should buy a inpa, any suggestions.
I found one on Amazon with good reviews.

OK sooooooooooooo I finally had time to load INPA onto my lappy and go through the diagnostics scan....which there were some errors in there that i did not copy down i probably should have but in any case i cleared all the errors and still the yellow lights are on ....anyone have any other ideas? I was reading another post and perhaps i need to drive it so the lights can reset..i have not driven it as of yet.

If the lights are still on, just hook up your laptop again and scan the errors again?..

Google “BMW E46 hidden OBC functions.” Test #2 tears the gauge cluster. Any issues with the cluster will be obvious.

    Thumbs up

I just wanted to drop a line to everyone that helped with this problem....I finally figured everything out.

TY Raddee for the INPA idea...it worked!!

    1. the windshield wiper light was on because it had no windshield wiper fluid in it haha...stupid me
    2. the dsc light was because it had an error code- INPA cleared it
3.ABS light was error code- INPA cleared
4.TPS light on for some reason the ECU lost the configuration of the sensors. Reset using INPA.

Instead of being just one problem it was 4 problems.I had to clear the error codes by using the INPA in the 3 different sections.

TY everyone who helped! I really appreciate it!
