OK, my 1998 328ic has a sloppy clutch pedal. I did install a cheater spacer bolt on the floorboard to make it shift nicer (why BMW does not have a adjustable slave rod is beyond me) but the pedal can twist to the side thus hitting and jamming on my bolt. The bolt is wide (1-1/2" dia) and has a rubber tip so I'm guessing its all in the slop in the pedal.
So what do I replace?
I have ordered a set of bronze oilite bushings do I also replace the
pedal?
Not sure what else while I'm down there.
Thanks,
Don B
With the proper bushing (that you ordered) the pedal looseness should be corrected, but you will have to inspect your pedal for wear/damage when you replace the bushings.
Conversely, there is a steel clutch pedal that Mason Engineering produces.

I installed delrin clutch pedal bushings which cured most of my side to side slop. But as mentioned, the stock pedal itself is made of plastic and might need replacing along with the bushing if it is worn from being slanted.
You're gonna want Item 4,

It's somewhat of a bitch to put the clutch pedal in, there's certainly a trick to doing it. It helps to take the seat out so you can lay on the floor.
It should just be the bushings as the plastic pedal should not wear. You also should already have the better designed tension spring return instead of the stupid M3 compression spring slide (that also love to squeak).
