went for $90k with 50k miles....crazy numbers on these things!

Yeah, seems about right. There was one a year or so ago on BAT which was like $130K or something stupid, but it had way fewer miles and was basically a garage queen. These cars are so rare that it's not really indicative of the E36 M3 market, though that seems to be doing just fine as well.

yeh nice to see the LTW getting e30 M3 type dollars. I own both so im somewhat indifferent but e36 will always have a soft spot in my heart.
I'm working on getting an overseas assignment in Stuttgart, so I've been exploring the market in Germany. An E36 M3/4/5 in decent shape with 140-160k sells for about $20k over there. I don't know if that's indicative of where our prices are headed or not, but it's an interesting data point. It's likely a function of their more demanding TUV vehicle inspections / licensing, but maybe they're just ahead of us by a couple years?
-Josh: 1998 S54 E36 M3/4/6 with most of the easy stuff and most of the hard stuff. At least twice. 271k miles. 1994 E32 740il with nothing but some MPars. 93k miles.
There's certainly been an upward trend in clean E36 M3's. I've seen more than one clean sub-100K mile example go for in the realm of $20K (or more) recently. The same thing is of course also happening with the E46 and E92 M3's which are more desirable cars, but clean E36's are far more rare than either of those (due to age/teenagers) which is why they're becoming valuable collector items.
My dad has a 2008 E92 M3 coupe 6 speed with only like 60K miles that I keep telling him he needs to just stash when he gets a new car because it's going to start going up in value several thousand dollars per year pretty soon. It's nice owning cars that rebound after hitting the bottom of their depreciation curve.

What do you think a 98 coupe with 70k miles is worth? One owner, fully documented in titanium silver? Light Dinan mods. No SC

I don't think I could ever justify paying $20K+ for a super clean e36 m3. Regardless of the miles, there are better cars you can get for the money imo. Don't get me wrong, I've purposefully kept mine for 10 years now and it has 190k miles on it. I plan on keeping her for a while knowing the value is only going to decrease with the amount of miles I have. Not to mention my leather seems to have given up on life after this many miles.

The answer is crazy low mileage and pristine interiors.

Like with the E30s, the market is trending towards the double distribution for E36 M3s. It probably won't come as quickly as it has for the E46 M3 or air-cooled 911s, but it will hit at some point in the near future. I have a unsettling feeling that the E9Xs won't deprecate too much more and only God knows what will happen with the F8X.
