We recently purchased a 2015 X3 (M Package) which included the Nav system. We discovered that it seems to be out of date, as it was unable to resolve some addresses for recently construction. I'm finding very mixed info, in terms of how we go about upgrading the maps.
I believe we have all BMW Connected apps activated, so there's been some info on how I should be able to update the map over the air. I was wonder if I could download the maps and load from a flash drive, but again, finding mixed info on whether or not I can do that myself or if I need to buy the drive and a code.
Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!
I just went thru this with a 2015 CPO. The 2015 maps expire after 3years. So I purchased the 2018 North America next version. You get a USB device , and a 20 digit authentication code ( via email from the dealership parts Dept in my case )
the total cost was $159.00 but I received a 10% military discount so it could be more like @$175.00 Installation was straightforward and I had the dealer’s genius get it started with me watching. Takes on the order of 40 minutes to download the new database ( maps ) . Used the USB port in the center console during the process .
I also separately used theBMWConnected app to purchase real time traffic updates ( $50.00)
everything is running great .
