Rough change 2nd/3rd, once engine is warm

My E32(M60B30) 1992, has been an endearing car but I have a rough shift between 2nd-3rd. Not noticeable at all when cold, car has to be driven for a while to notice it. My brother brought this car back to Australia from Hong Kong but initially from the UK, now mine. He had the G/box rebuilt because it was jerking everywhere but we are left with this rough change and the workshop gave up on it - they even sourced a 2nd hand valve body to no avail. Engine test reveals no faults/codes other than a persistent CAN-1 error which I'm told is a communication error?? Car only has 160,000 kms on it but has had some lengthy periods where it sat idle with stale fuel and the car certainly ran better after some treatments went through it. Prior to there was indication on start-up that some sensors may be glazed etc but running well presently. I'm also getting the occasional 'trans prog' error come up that clears once I push the shifter back then forward. It's been an ongoing pain in the backside and I really need to clear it up before I press on with this project. I understand it's a common one but I'm hoping that grab bag of info might point somewhere??

What is the VIN for this car?
For the E32 730 M60 there was an EPROM update for the ZF 5HP18, because there was some hard shifting. This refers to 730iA (M60) with A5S 310Z = ZF 5HP18 and VIN smaller than DD 44 532

Here the German version translate that
    Fehler der elektronischen Getriebesteuerung (EGS) beim 730iA V8 (E32) mit 5- Gang-Automatikgetriebe A5S 310Z (5HP 18), Eprom-Tausch auf Softwarestand D3000
    Symptome (Auswahl):

    Teilenummer EPROM D3000: 24601422532

Check the chip in the trans for the number shown in the link. No idea if these chips are still available from the dealer. If not, try to get a used TCU.
Or if someone has a spare TCU with the upgraded EPROM and can send me the chip, I can make some copies, have the stuff here to read and copy, would have to check which EPROM, as I only have spare EPROMS for the Motronic performance chips on stock

Righto, very interesting - thanks for that. That will be a tomorrow job but while in Hong Kong my brother got slaughtered on repairs and was even charged for a new Gbox he never got. If it had the right chip it's entirely possible it got nicked and swapped, some amazing shonkery goes on there, especially if you are a 'Gwalo'(not a local) .

Tim, that is for the 5HP30, his E32 730 M60B30 has a 5HP18, basically the same symptoms, but the EGS data versions are different for the 5HP18.

Just in case you cannot get the EPROM D3000: 24601422532 from the dealer anymore as NLA, let me know, I know someone in Germany who might be able to help.

Just a quick question Matt, is it a constant or occasional thing? The reason I ask is that I have a random hard shift, just wondering if it is a program issue? I just put it down to a 'way I was driving issue' but this thread has got me thinking!
I originally put it down to a lot of cruising or sedated driving, then a period of more aggressive driving, then whilst driving more sedated it seems to hard shift occasionally, maybe it's not my driving (Though mine is a 5hp30)

Shogun, does this mean that I need to upgrade my EPROMs to data version 3232, is this still available?

Have no idea, maybe you ask the dealer for 3232 EPROM part number 24601422397 ECE
Maybe a cpl. used EGS control module with that EPROM is cheaper than a new EPROM from the dealer.

But first check inside your control module what is actually installed.
Procedure here as example for the 5HP18 http://www.7-forum.com/modelle/e32/e..._egs/index.php
