Decided to put together a 'build' thread so I have a place to track my progress and also ask a heap of stupid questions.
I sort of know what I'm doing but not really so this should be fun.
Anyway, I bought this 1995 M3 last March with just shy of 200,000 miles on her. Picked it up in Arkansas and drove back to New Jersey with (almost) no issues. I have since started believing in the Lord.
Did a few things it needed. Bilstein PSS9s, Evo 9 Recaros, fresh tints, etc. Also did some unnecessary stuff like an oil change and making the brake lights work.
Fast forward a few months. I picked up a more suitable daily (GMC Canyon) and dumped my tax return into the important stuff - piecing together a turbo kit.
Turbo & Engine:
Precision 6266 T4TS 1.15 AR Journal Bearing Turbo
AR Design T4TS Top Mount Manifold (ufffff)
Mishimoto M-Line Intercooler
Tial Q BOV
Tial MVS 38mm Wastegates (2)
CES Motorsport Cutring Headgasket
ARP Head Studs
RallySport Oil Feed Line
Electronics & Fuel:
AEM Failsafe Wideband/Boost Gauge
AEM Oil Pressure Gauge
Walbro 485
RallySport Walbro 485 Install Kit
Fuel Lab FPR & Gauge
ID1050x Injectors
RallySport Steering Column Gauge Pod
Misc:
Gaskets
Lines
Fittings
S50 Oil Pan w/ -10AN Fitting Welded In
EBay Catch Can
And most importantly - E36 Bentley Manual
Side note - this AR Design manifold is gorgeous. All stainless steel and the welds look fantastic. Goofy shape but they have to be for this sort of application. Look forward to installing.
Hope you enjoy this almost as much as I do. Should be entertaining.

Day 1: Got all the parts to my buddy's facility where I will be doing as much of the work as possible.
Helped him do a bunch of stuff and it was Sunday night so only tore down some of the car. Front end + windshield washer reservoir off.
Next weekend is compression test because I guess that's the responsible thing to do.

I can also see the pictures now. Glad to see I'm not the only one foolish enough to turbo a high-mileage s50.
What is your plan for the coolant reservoir? I'm also doing top-mount and am planning on switching to an e30/euro M3 tank once I get the charge piping finalized.
Good Deal and good luck. This board has been a great resource for me and I'm sure you'll have a couple head scratchers along the way.

Hoboken?
Got a few things done on Saturday. Compression test (she's healthy-ish :parrot
And removed exhaust & some more engine bay stuff.
Hopefully draining AC and starting the disassembly to remove the head next weekend.
Oh and I got my ID1050Xs in :halm:
Not entirely sure why I am over 200psi on most cylinders - thinking either this heads been decked once or twice, or this gauge is f'ed. Either way, the numbers are all relatively close and none of them are heartbreakingly low, so better than expected lol.
Anyone have any idea which headers these are? Seemed pretty solid and fit well.
*gave up and went back to photobucket even though I feel like it gives my computer cancer*
Got some decent progress made this past Saturday as well as got a few parts & things in.
Removed entire AC, drained coolant, removed cooling fan, coil packs, spark plugs, etc.
Churbo blankey.
Got the gauges in to pump down the AC. There's a recovery bottle inside that bucket of rags, I swear.
"Caution: even if gauges read empty there still may be some residual in the lines." Nah m8 just pull the ****er off.
Couldn't get to the tensioner due to the shroud being a pain. Box cutter will do.
All the AC stuffs.
How she sits now. Got stuck pulling the injector harness off because I didn't remove the wire box under the wipers.
A bunch of dudes eye-deflowering her in all her glory.
Idk how I ended up sharing garage space with this beauty but alas - this thing exists:
