Just purchased 1997 328i . Stock rims on the car are 15" . From what I read 17 s will fit this car . This will be a track car that will be driven to track . What would be best size rim for the track . Any thoughts on rim size and or tire choice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks robert
17x8.5 seems to be a common E36 track car rim, with Kosei being common.

Wondering if I use the 17 x 8.5 is there other modifications that will need to be made .....fenders etc . I am starting from scratch trying to be prepared so I make sure I get it right the first time . As I am full time employed I plan to use others to do the up front work . Want to be educated so I have a clue before moving forward , thanks for any suggestions

I run these square on my e36 and can get 255 Toyo RR's under there with coils and a 5mm spacer up front
Like them so much I have two sets
ME:"I want to make my car faster and lighter"
THEM:" Get out and let someone else drive"
17x9 et42 Apex ARC-8 is a pretty common setup too. You'll need a spacer in the front to clear the spring.
Thanks for info , will be purchasing something early next week . Car is going in for some suspension mods and tires and wheels
D-Force LTW5s and Apex ARC-8s in 17x9 ET35 to ET42 are two of our more popular wheels for track guys. They'll let you run a lot of meat, but be aware as NorthWestM said spacers are needed on most setups for spring/coil/shock clearance.

Those are excellent wheels. I would supplement my choice with the additional $$$ you will still have in your pocket for other mods you might want. My car is strictly D/E so at some point I have to compensate my "wannabe" with the reality that I might not get the benefit of a wheels the is a few ounces lighter. Do the math on what works best for you and enjoy your build and getting out on the track!

Help me out here . I think my head is going to explode.....so many decisions, so many choices . I had finally decided on a tire and tried to order from multiple sources and .......it's either back ordered or not available at this time . Ugh ?
The tire I was interested in was Federal 595 rsrr 235/40 17 no luck so help a guy out . What's next . I will be driving these to the track 30 miles , but this is not a car that will be driven as a daily driver .
The rims I am going with are T r motor sport C2 s
I am almost there , car is in shop . Suspension, brakes , mounts and a bunch of other stuff that is adding up quick need tires I can actually buy , that is before my head explodes
thank you all
robert
Those RSRRs in that size are in stock on Amazon.com. I used a set, in that size, on your chassis last season, and I liked them, ESPECIALLY for the money. But I hope it's dry in Watsonville, because once the tread wears down a bit they are a handful in the rain if you try to drive to the track. Once at the track, I thought they were actually just fine as rain tires, as long as I didn't try to steer or accelerate in any puddles or streams.

If God meant for man to motor-swap LS engines into track cars, He wouldn't have created Corvettes.
