Hi,
I was hoping that any board member that had experience or knew knowledge on this subject could post and fill me in on the best way to prepare and store a fuel tank.
I've taken the US tank off my e23 and replaced it with a Euro tank. My US tank is in good shape and I'd like to clean and dry it out the best I can to prevent it from getting surface rust in storage. I plan to use it on a future e23 restoration.
Does anyone have any tips or knowledge/experience in doing this?
Also, does anyone have any experience in cleaning out a tank that has some surface rust in it and putting it back in service? I have an additional Euro tank that I almost used but there was some rust and I was hesitant to use it.
Thanks in advance!
C
I should probably feel bad, my 100L tank it wrapped in yard bags and has been sitting in the backyard for about 3-4 years.
I replaced it with what I thought was a 100L tank from a 745, turns out it had been swapped at some point.
I don't want to reinstall until I get it tested, there is a radiator shop in town with a big tank that pressure tests things.
