Hi,
I bought an engine, M54B30, to replace my engine, M54B25, in my E83 BMW X3. The engine comes from a 2001 BMW Z3 and is RWD. My SUV is AWD and the old engine has the space and the parts for the CV Boots. The new engine does not. Is it possible to convert my SUV into RWD? If so, how would I do it?
While the engines are out, swap the oil pan from the M54B25, which has the front differential mount, to the B30. That way you won't need to worry about anything else.
Probably a good idea to change all gaskets anyway when the engine is out, including oil pan gasket, rear main seal, etc.
