I haven't either, but this is just part of what I have to deal with now...amongst other wierd things going on with the car. Finally put Hyper parts in passenger door. Now both are ready for many years to come.

That is a little strange (I haven't seen a ton of 8ers, but never one with the buttons there). Also, I don't think the car came with cup holders (aside from the thing on the glove box door). None the less, nice looking 8. And a 6 speed to boot!

Thanks. Yes, cup holders are nice. I am having a throttle issue currently. Initial start of the day throttle is perfect. Go to work friend's house or to the store gas station Etc, app on restart no throttle for 2 to 5 minutes then all is perfect.

An imprecise description, since we are dealing with a mechanical cable throttle.
If you are having trouble coming out of idle then go after the TPS as it may be conspiring with the IAV to undo your initial input.

How about some more pics of that nav panel thingy, above the half-MID.
I didn't review this before I posted. Talk to text did not say upon restart (app). I will upload more photos later. But yes, no throttle... 1st cold start of the day, no problem. 2nd or 3rd after driving will make me wait 2 to 5 mins before it gives me throttle. It starts fine and idles fine. I was thinking voltage since new amp and sub got replaced before this started. Also swapped Idle Control Valve for used when mine was acting up. I have new ICV just waiting for install. I have 2 TPS? I know v12 has only one. Thanks again for the handle fix for both doors.

Still having trouble with those two words.
Do we pop the hood to see whether it has left the engine bay?
On the 840, one throttle connected by cable, if it's still there also.
One TPS, hopefully telling the ECU that you ARE or are NOT at an idle position, requiring or not requiring intervention by the perfectly functioning IAV/ICV.
Ok, I'll check. I'm quite sure that the idle cable is still connected, since I regain full functionality of throttle after 2 to 5mins.

I started feeling the slip pulling off and it was getting worse. I believe cost was in the neighborhood of $2K but I (purposely) forgot. I went aftermarket (IIR UUC Stage II) one of my clients is a Euro repair shop so I got a break on the work... we did the slave cylinder too. Think that was the first thing I ordered from Gault ..or was it the fuel pump...
Are you saying that you went aftermarket on the clutch and flywheel. I have the 840ci, so I hope I'm correct in thinking that my clutch and flywheel is different than the 850? I have the UUC short shifter, just waiting to be installed. Heard it's best to do during clutch replacement. Thanks for your comments and reply

This is pretty neat with all the work that's been accomplished. 'Should be a good car going forward...after fixing the clutch. Send me a PM with your info and I'll add you to SoCalEights. We have some members in Lost Wages. Then you can also join the BMW E31 Chapter online.

I'm thinking about going for the 850csi option. What do you all think? Anyone have or know of a good Indy shop in Vegas

Part of my 99 challenges/questions... Is there a difference in the center consoles of the 850 6 speed and the 840ci automatic? My gearshifter and boot don't quite sit in correctly. Or do I just need to order the correct boot and shifter with frame off course.20180515_193144.jpg20180515_204233.jpg20180515_204220.jpg20180515_193200.jpgI saw a picture of another 6 speed conversion that looked righteous,6speed shifter.JPGmine doesn't look this good. Please advise...
As far as the shifter area is concerned, every E31 console is the same, and any of them can be converted from auto to manual without changing that part.
I did not replace mine when I did the swap:

Ok, so, maybe I have the wrong shifter boot and frame. Because mine doesn't sit correctly in the pocket. Thx for the insight

Maybe. Then again, I've seen CSi's with both versions of the shift boot (one sits 'in' the console, one sits 'on' the console), and fairly certain that both were 100% original. Obviously the boots were different, since as olinjohnson says the consoles are all the same. Realoem shows different shift boot part numbers for the wood console and the plastic console, as well as a couple of discontinued part numbers for both, so there may be two styles.

Thx guys, I will have the clutch installed next week whilst I'm out of town. Will have them also put in UUC Evo short shifter. I'll order the boot and frame from the dealer using part numbers that you all suggest. I would assume that the boots are different for 6 speed vs the automatic?
