So I was under the impression I had a bad CCV on my 04 330Ci with 255k km, it had the notorious white smoke from the exhaust loss of power burning oil and wasn't over heating. I took the whole intake manifold off to get at the CCV and inspect and replace, however it seems like the only part that might be causing the clog is the hose that runs to the valve cover. That upper part of the hose and the hole in the valve cover itself have a thick black oily residue but it wouldn't be enough to clog it. I took out the plugs to inspect them and the definitely also need to be replaced as they were burnt but there was also fresh oil on them. I am getting multiple misfire code P0300,and misfire codes P0303,P0305, and P0306. Am also receiving a P0411 and inspected the secondary air pump which has the same black gunk in it. my question is If I replace the CCV and the secondary air pump do you guys think this will stop the misfire codes? Need some advice hoping someone has had a similar issue as I'm now stumped.
Hopefully the CCV will slow down the oil burning, and since you live in a cold region, get the cold weather kit if you drive this car year round. Also make sure if you don't get the new dipstick tube, pull the old one out and clean the inner wall.
Next have a look at the evap valve attached to the head. IIRC there is suppose to be a one-way valve and not allow any exhaust gasses to leave. If the air pump and hose leading to it is full of black gunk, then I would check the valve out.

I’ll in the spark plugs means it’s time to replace the valve cover gasket, the 14 rubber grommets and the large o-rings that surround the spark plug openings in cover. Replace the entire CCV. Don’t mess around with a piecemeal approach. And follow Darin’s advice: he knows what he’s talking about.
Yes dworthy helped me with the sedans 325 to 330 swap he definitely is very helpful. Are you talking about this valve?https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01...C21LYEGQ&psc=1
if that is the valve you are talking about I meant to put secondary air pump valve, as this is the part I have been talking about that had the oily gunk in it.
Marco the oil is on the threads not on the ceramic part so I have heard that the valve cover gasket would cause oil on the tops of the spark but not the threads?
Make sure your check valve is operating properly before you replace the secondary air pump. Several videos on youtube on how to troubleshoot. I was getting a secondary air pump code and I had a frozen check valve.

Thanks guys will be replacing all of this and yes I am aware what fuel trims are however have not figured out how to check them with torque.
Any preventative maintenance I should do while replacing? going to do the check air valve, ccv, valve cover gasket and disa as i noticed my disa o ring was fixed sketchily by previous owner.
Definitely replace the valve cover gasket. Buy the correct number (14?) of rubber grommets. And don’t forget to buy a tube high temperature RTV for the half moons.
Get the G.A.S. DISA repair kit if you think it has a sketchy repair. I did it as preventative maintenance at the 10 year mark on the Wagon, and it is a well put together kit: http://www.germanautosolutions.com/b...repair_kit.php

+1 on Darin’s GAS suggestion.
Darin on my DISA it was the o-ring that went and it looks like the previous owner attempted to use a silicon seal to replace the broken o ring. I am going to buy a whole new DISA do you still recommend buying that kit? my DISA still functions properly I have plugged the hole with my finger and checked, everything is okay there. would this kit just repair my old one? as I have read you cant really replace the o ring without buying a whole new DISA. Also Marco, I noticed that one of my out er half moons is snapped, i think its only the top little portion but will I have to buy a whole new valve cover? and if so have any of you guys done the m56 aluminum valve cover swap?
IMAG0071.jpg
Here's a picture for reference I may be able to clean it off but would it really be worth it?
You can buy the O-ring separately.
I re read what came in the kit that Darin posted and it actually comes with the O-ring. Wire brush and some brake cleaner should do the trick?
I would use a stiff brush, as the wire brush may cause damage to the DISA. Also a small pen knife or exacto knife can help clean out the crap the PO put in there to attempt to seal it. The problem that the DISA has is the metal pin can fall out over time, and the kit eliminates that pin completely.

Yeah I completely understood why you sent that kit. Thanks again for all the help Darin you've been helpful in both projects now. and I agree the wire would probably scuff up the plastic and make it not seal properly again.
Here to help from the school of hard knocks!
Enjoy the car, and it is always good to know what is the common problems with each model so you can prepare for that.

I will update again after all the parts come in and are installed see if we have cleared any codes and made progress lmao
When installing the DISA with the new o-ring. Put a small bit of oil on the oring to ease in installation. Sometimes the sharp edges on the manifold can cut the o-ring.
Replace with new DISA, as that DISA is deteriorating, along with a new o-ring-LOOK at that photo!!
Brickk,
I see your point,
but I am going by the age, along with the mileage,
so I would totally change the dammed thing,
but you are free to do what you want !
