hello all,
in conjunction to my original post https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...RANS-PROG-FAIL
I can't scan the DME's and some other related modules of my e38 750il without having ADS interface.
I use my Lenovo R50e for scanning (inpa) and it doesn't have "real" serial connector.
My question is if I can use an USB to RS232 converter (not adapter) to work with Tiny ADS interface?
Thank's
very few people have had success with a USB converter or adapter.

You need a true serial port, unfortunately, when using ADS.
Newer laptops capable of using a dock may have a dock available with a serial port. Those work fine.

In theory, you can make and through usb. The truth is that the signal converter rs232-> usb will be needed, and then we will do everything at the driver level. even any arduino is suitable as a converter. And if there were a lot of people, you can get stuck with writing a driver for Windows. But it's easier to find a laptop with com port.
