Hey guys i need some info please...I have a e30 320i m20 and yesterday i ran the car on the dyno which only lasted 10 minutes due to the car switching off...When i tried starting the car again it did not wanna and would just turn over..We noticed that the crankshaft pulley was right up against the water pump pulley...What could be the cause of that? And when i try starting the car now a squeaky noise comes from the engine...Please help?
it sounds like the inside of the pulley has come apart but until you get in and look at it, you won't know.
No e30s again.
sounds very serious, does it have compression when cranked? maybe the crank pulley came off but that may have junked the timing belt bending valves, dyno's kill cars................................
Maybe your waterpump bearing took a crap or the bolts which hold the pulley?. I'd remove the belt and see if there is any major play on that one. Easier for that too break then a crank pulley. Never heard of an m20 pulley breaking or comming loose on a dyno with a motor that maybe produces 125hp.
I agree. I just thought of the breaking crank pulley from a buddies mustang and another buddies diesel chevy truck but really, I have never heard of it on an m20
No e30s again.
