Hello,
last year I had some major work done on my 2002 320i.
The engine git very hot and melted some of the wiring harness going to coils , which shorted them. Coils and plugs had to be changed and the wiring harness repaired as the harness alone would be quite expensive. New pencil styled coils were put in The mechanic did some re wiring.
Fast forward about 10 months and the mechanic has closed his shop. I was getting a misfire reading of code P1348
Faulty Spark Plug
Faulty Ignition Coil
Intake vacuum leak
Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor
Ignition Coil harness is open or shorted
Ignition Coil circuit poor electrical connection
I took it to a new mechanic who looked at the wiring and said he couldn't even attempt to look at the plugs or coils as the wiring is so confusing. The car is misfiring quite often now, and I am wondering if anyone has any advice. Does it look very confusing or should a coil change/spark change? I have attached a couple of photos of the wiring.
Thanks so much!
My god i dont blame the mechanic. Thats one hell of a hack job. Best way to fix it is replace the wiring harness.

Thanks for the reply. That might be the only option unless I can track down the mechanic and get him to provide a diagram or something of the spaghetti.
regardless that mess is probably part of your issue.
