Hello Bimmerforums, I recently ran into an issue with my 2010 535 that's been in and out of mechanic shops since I initially got it. I had the alternator pulley seize up on me and the entire belt ripped/melted, got my alternator rebuilt everything was fine. I drove the car home everything seemed fine. I decided to go for some cruises with a couple of friends and ended up pushing that car quite a bit and it was completely fine, after 20-30 minutes of driving I put the car in neutral and revved, I heard a small rattling clinging noise but ignored it hoping it would go away. I noticed the noise would go away when giving it some gas in drive ( car didn't make noise while moving) after words I did some highway driving and once i got off the highway I pulled up to a red light and heard a loud thumping clinging sound, my car went into limp mode (engine malfunction, power reduced) and i had a sensor go off. I don't know what's causing this, i don't want to take it back to the mechanics yet without an input from you guys.

Dumb question I know but have to ask- whats the oil level? Sounds like a valve/lifter to me. Not good. How many miles?
