Hey guys I have a '98 328i convertible that keeps blowing fuse 7.
- Soft top works and power locks work when the fuse isn't blown.
- If I put a fresh fuse in, I can use the soft top, lock/unlock the car etc.
Once I lock the car, walk away and then come back the fuse will have blown. Could this be a bad door lock actuator that's shorting and blowing the fuse? Something else? Any tips?
Fuse 7 blowing when your alarm is arming sounds like probably the wiring for the loom that goes into the trunk? Check under the rubber cover, these wires go through a lot of bending over the years and can sometimes break or short on each other.
I have checked it, maybe I looked it in the wrong place. I will disconnect and pull it out of the trunk and look more carefully at the wires. Can a bad door lock actuator cause this?

Im going to look at that trunk harness very carefully this weekend.
To spice things up, my car to decided to blow fuse 33 and wont hold a fuse in that socket, blows right on contact. FML! No left side tail lights or parking lights, interior lights, who knows what else
Yeah I used to lose 37, instrument lights, tail light and number plate (RHD)

See how I pulled one grommet out and tucked one in to slide it down the wire. I think the hard tube inserts in the grommet got pulled and never went back in.
Slide it and you don't have to cut the outer cover like many rough how tos, also stagger all the ends so not to make loom too think in one spot and replace a couple inches either side the bend.
There is a specific thread on it
