    All good points, thanks
Have replaced injectors with rebuilt flowed ones, all 6 plugs all look the same when pulled.
Am tried 3 different O2 sensors , all correct, no change.
Have discoed O2 sensors many times when trying to tune with AFM, car runs the same.
Will look at order of fuel control sensors.
Will try another battery disco and cable grounding.

I can’t emphasise enough to install a wideband and air/ fuel gauge. It will take most of the guessing game away.

The air/fuel gauge does look tempting.
I rarely drive the car, maybe 2000/year and I have to look at maybe a new exhaust.
I'll be looking at some other things as soon as it gets below 95 degs here in Colorado.

Jim Con, I have read through this thread several times and noticed some similarities to my problem (see thread on this forum) "All 6 spark plugs black and wet."
My car is almost undrivable. Also mine's an 84 and I think the TPS is different. However we have both carried out the same tests and so far not found the solution to the problem.
I'm not going to jump in to this conversation with a lot of questions or comments but I do have one question:
My problem occurred suddenly, normal driving then running very rough in a split second. How did your problem occur?
I will keep an eye on this thread and let you know if I make any significant progress on my car. Good luck, John Kenneth

My problem started 18 months ago when I had my car smogged and it failed for too rich for 1st time in 10 years, ran fine to me.
1st thought was O2 sensor, cracked manifold getting it out, despite WD40 soaking for a few days, had to put floor jack under cheater bar to get it out.
Got manifold and new O2 sensor bung welded in, still failed.
Used friends AFM, identical car, his ran fine, mine didn't.
    Used friend's ECU, no joy.
My problem was gradual, yours was immediate.
My guess would be some sort of electrical gremlin as yours went downhill quickly.
Things that it might be, connections that need to be separated and sprayed with contact cleaner.
Grounds that need to be cleaned up.
Wiring that has cracked or split.
Maybe plugs are not getting enough spark.
Usual air leak problems, like accordion boot.
Leaks downstream of AFM that fool computer into thinking it it's lean and then richening it up.
Mine is driveable but not smog worthy.
    Good luck,
    Jim

I just skimmed the thread, and searched for "cat" within the page and didn't see any references to the catalytic converter / cat. Getting mine cleared out made my car run much less rich and smoother...

Cat and new exhaust are on my next list, after various vacations are cleared out.
Running rich for a while has probably killed mine.
How did you clear the cat out???
