Swap options

Thinking about possibly pulling an m54 from an auto wrecker soon. This a good idea or should I just go with an m50 engine. Also going to be pulling the tranny with it. What are other things im going to need to upgrade for my car to be able to handle the 190hp?

if you can swing the s54 it's the better option. swap is near identical.

and 190 is not going to require any mods, chassis wise. maybe, if you have drums out back, swap to disk brakes?

You might want to pull the differential from the donor car as well.
Investigate what ratio you’ll need.

IIRC, the M54 engine management has an immobilizer feature that you will have to deal with. I'm not certain though. Not sure what your options are there. The M50 is an easy swap as it's been done so many times.
