    Window Regulator Security Glass

I have my old 2000 740iL as a parts car. My 1999 740iL just started making noise when I raised and lowered the driver's side window. It stuck at one point so I'm guessing it going to be toast. My parts car has security glass -- the thick windows and I never had a problem with any of the windows on it. I am guessing it has different window regulators since the security glass is so much heavier. Does anyone know if i can remove the regulator from that one and use it in the other car with non-security glass?

I think the security glass definitely has different regulators, but I think they mount to the glass differently... Also the standard dual pane has the same regs as single pane.

They aren't different. I swapped in single pane for my security glass when it delaminated. No modifications for rear installation. In the front, I had to modify the front mounting point bolt slightly to accommodate the single pane because the dual pane has a metal extension tab to reach the mounting point and the single pane is full glass extension tab to rest on the mounting bolt so i just put a piece of fuel line over the bolt so the glass was resting on soft rubber with rubber washers on both sides of the glass.
