Alright i know this has been beaten to death, but i cannot find information on how to get the seat belt pre-tensioners to work with the E46 Sport seats installed into OBD-II E36. Has anyone found out how to do this? Along with the Occupancy sensor? I've seen a couple plug-in bypasses for the occupancy sensor. Any info would be greatly appreciated or if someone could turn me onto a DIY thread. Thanks in advance!
AFAIK this will never work right even more so if your car is pre or early 97.
Buy my native installed ISIS ISTA-D/ISTA-P bmw diagnostic laptop. More Info Here!
My car is a was produced 1-21-97. So it has the manual Pretensioners.
Can you not just swap the e36 tensioner to the e46 seat?
Also, could just pull your existing occupancy sensor and just install under the seat pad in the e46 seat?
May be a bit of extra work but at least everything should plug back up and you won't get an SRS light
Thinking that's going to be the Route i go Thrifty for the most part. The issue is that the E46 seats are wired for Pyrotensioning and the E36 being an "early model" Has manual tensioners and they don't match up. From my understanding there's wiring that runs to the seat belt buckle on the E36 seats that's apart of the system. So i will swap those if need be as well. I'll be picking the seats up after work today. Gonna see what we're working with.

Yeah just rip the whole assembly off and swap to the E46. Its the same when you do it for a bucket seat. You can see here that i swapped over everything to my Floor mount.
This is the Bolt that holds it all on.
You want these 2 small yellow and Black connectors for the Tensioner
Cut all the Zipties holding those to the seat and wrap the head in Elec. tape, just to make sure they dont snag on anything when pulling through the seat base
There is 1 Zip tie under the Seat Cushion you need to Snip before you can pull all the way through
Careful with the plastic screws that secure the seat cushion to the frame, they are barbed like a Sting ray stinger and will snap if you dont squeeze the barbs first before trying to Pull them out.
Shouldnt be too Difficult! Ill be retrofitting OEM Seat heaters into my sparco's lol.
So in theory getting all this done...my face wont smash into my steering wheel correct? haha
