Strange Thing Started Happening to Info Display

So whenever I start my car now, the little info window gives a ding and tells me what my range is. This is the display behind the steering wheel. It used to ding and come on whenever I was driving and down around 30 miles. Now every time I start the car. Ding! "Range 445 miles".....Ding! "Range 287 Miles" etc...

Any ideas on how to stop this?

Not sure what your helpful tip is pointing to, maybe I'm just dumb

What I am talking about is the warning signal you typically get when your down to about 30 miles left on a tank. You get a Ding! and a range pops up. This is usually 10-20 miles after the yellow low fuel LED has activated. Now the range message flashes briefly and dings whenever the car starts and flashes momentarily whenever I turn off the car. As I understand it the ding is typically activated when the OBC detects very low fuel. I have never received a fuel Ding! with 400 miles left in the tank.

I'm not curious how to change the Check Control Display to read something else or to add or subtract info messages. It seems the computer for some reason thinks a fuel warning Ding! is required at startup. Battery is fully charged, nothing was changed in regards to OBC, MIDI, etc. It just started one day. Pretty familiar with the tank and I don't remember a separate sensor for low fuel. Maybe there is one and it's incorporated with something else?

Addl: Noticed it also occurs if I turn the key to position 2 without starting the car. However, after doing that, the ding/msg doesn't occur again until I've cycled through restarting the car.

Hmm... maybe try unplugging your battery after the trunk light goes off? That seems super weird that it is doing that.

Thanks for the suggestion. Did just that, actually let is sit overnight dc'd. Gone on about half dozen drives today and no fuel warning!

Never had this issue in 16 years.

Thanks for your helpful tip jriley.
