Hello,
I'm considering purchasing an '83 320is to obtain some parts for my '73 2002. I would plan to take the driveshaft, lsd, seats, steering wheel, transmission and wheels. Most everything else would be available. Is anyone looking for other e21 parts to help make this purchase cost effective? What is in demand? Interiors? body panels? lights? engine? Parts could be shipped or available for pickup in central FL. Thanks in advance.
Please don't hurt it. They are quite rare at this point.
I would be interested in buying the front valance from you if it’s in good condition

The 320is would be a fun car to enjoy the way it is. Think of it as a somewhat more advanced 2002. They are appreciating and are beginning to be considered classic.
How is the body? Is it all there and rust free?

What you will have left will be next to worthless. The center grill will be worth a little, if no dents at all. Tail lenses worth a bit if no cracks. Inner door panels may be worth $15. Doors and stuff like that are worth less than they'd cost to ship.
Is the engine worth anything? No. I put a head for sale on eBay, starting bid $1 and no reserve. It sold for $1, only got one bid.
I have two parts cars. May be scrapping them soon to clean up the yard.

I’m in for this build thread if it comes to fruition. I get others wanting to see another e21 preserved but better it be used for another bmw then possibly purchased by someone else with less ambition and then found at the scrapper later down the road.
Good luck! I would consider paying for good taillights and trunk lid/hood if they were ascot grey.
Everyone's information and advice is appreciated. The parts I'm looking for have gotten expensive to acquire. Reasonable low estimates are...5 speed $750, lsd $750, seats $750, alloy wheels $200, and steering wheel $50. I might could use a few other misc. items like radiator, rear view mirror and brakes adding up to another $250 or so. That adds up to $2750. I just bought a running driving 320is for $2800. It's nice because I'll be able to test the trans and lsd instead of buying cores without knowing if they work. However, understanding the car is rare, I will make one offer to the forum before I begin parting it out. I will sell it for $3000 before I remove anything. $3000 lets me source what I need part by part. Let me know if anyone's interested. I'll should be able to take some pics and get them posted by the weekend. There are a couple of pending part requests that I will address this weekend if no one is interested.
I kind of hope that somebody takes you up on your offer for $3k. This exact color car was my first BMW when I was 16. Drove the hell out of it. Finally sold it and wish I never did.
If you decide to part it out, I will take the front bumper.
If you decide to part. I’ll take the front valance. If it’s in good condition
What is the colour of the interior? Are the rear windows popouts?
I'd be interested in the dash if it didn't have cracks, wiring harness and the all to elusive hazard switch. Maybe the front bumper.
Edit: sunroof seals (all three if in good health) back quarter panels assuming they are rust free. Inside workings for door mostly just for the windows.
Might as well ship me the whole car when you're done
