For the z3 roadsters, like the famous Zoran gauge pod. Upholstery and hood will come next. This has a rough bend to it, i know. Was just testing fitment, depth and backspacing.
the hole placement is also off, i just wanted to build it quick and get some measurements
Are you advertising a product that you plan on selling?

Looks like Deja Vu to me. I'm gonna love this thread!
Round 2! Just 8 short years later.

They must have a thing for them up there in Maryland.
One positive aspect in the interim though, the Zoran gaugepod has resided in my garage for the last four (>4) years!
Plan is to replace vent with a black one, and paint the thin strip of blue black also__when I get around to it...
Subscribed to see where this goes. I'm also in Maryland and interested.
Why not paint the pod blue to continue the dash theme? Is there even a paint out there to match it though? I know what you mean about these projects and "when I get around to it." I've had gauges sitting in a box for >2 years.
Speaking of interior paint, anyone found something that closely matches the color and texture of the black interior trim?
I'm finally getting around to installing gauges in my Z3M and I'm up to 4. I'm doing boost/oil pressure (OEM chrome rings) in a Rally Road pod above the steering column and AFR/OBD in an Autometer A-pillar pod . I hate the finish of the A-pillar pod and wanted to paint it to match the rest of the black trim, or at least as close as possible. It's quite textured as well so I thought about sanding it down to blend in better.
p.s. Oh, and your boost gauge looks slightly crooked.

Yesssssss!
Would you look at that.. time for holes and leather
I don't mean to be a naysayer, and I'm probably missing something here, but all I see in this thread is pictures of the same mess from different angles. Someone explain to me what I obviously don't have eyes to see.
Looks like cutting a hole in the dash between the two pods, and inserting a recessed fiberglass molding that holds three gauges.

Is it an anti-theft device (makes car too ugly to steal)? A cat hair accumulator?? A huge creepy eye staring from your dash??? I don't know, but I can't wait to find out!! Keep those updates coming!
Picture just for shhs and giggles. It's vinyl, not the nappa leather.
It looks kind of lumpy. You'll need to fix that.
Oh #@$#.... I thought this thread was a joke playing off that epic pod thread from before... You're actually doing this for real? Cool, good luck!
That epic pod thread was mine! Haha my old username was banned

I made this out of junk pod so this may be a bad design I'm not sure I just want to try to upholstery
I think you might be better off designing something in CAD (https://www.tinkercad.com/ is free and online) and then 3D printing it. If you have a design, there are a bunch of places that will 3D print it for you.
I'm pretty sure this is what he's going after...
Kelvin, on here, has taken the best picture I've seen of my dash while the car still belonged to either Zoran or Red Jen__sad that I couldn't (or haven't...) one-upped him, but all pictures I have show the gauges as a secondary subject, not the primary focus, since I've not had to touch them since getting the car back. I actually cut the dash and did the 1st Gen installation in 2006, seen below...
(this very act could be why I have health issues today...)
Jon Maddux/Leather Z covered the Subaru WRX "hood" in Estoril leather, and while I didn't think it looked that bad__it was the best I was capable of__Zoran pursued a continued development plan and arrived at what is now on the car today (I'm not complaining, as I still have zero attempts to acquire any fiberglass/resin skills).
The one in (what is now) my car is a 2nd generation custom designed gauge pod done by a shop in the northeast (NY/NJ?). There was a guy on here quite a few years ago that successfully emulated the design, construction, and leather covering (Jeff Bryant, but his screen-name escapes me) and he made one more for me that I bought one from him__after he stopped making them__planning to use it when I had a twinscrew on my black M Rdstr (since removed and installed on a Coupe from Maine). I've kept the pod, just in case the one on the Coupe ever needs replacing (or if another project comes up?). I paid dearly for it, so don't anyone even ask if I want to sell it without making me a ridiculously high offer.
Cng I'll have the unpumpy done within 48 hours
