I was having the problem with the ground wire in the tail light connector burning the connector and not working properly. I put a heavier ground wire in that can handle the current. Before putting in the ground wire, one of the dashboard taillight indicators was on. Now, both of the dashlight indicators are on even though I now feel like the ground wire is handling the current sufficiently. Does anyone know why those dashlights would now be on?
Did you have the tail light recall done? Not sure if they would still provide it, but do check here to see if it is still open: https://www.bmwusa.com/safety-recalls.html

Nope, didn't do the recall. Not sure if they would service it now that I did the ground wire repair myself.
Does you New ground terminate at the same location as the replaced factory ground?

OP, have the recall repair performed on your car. It’s free. That way you know the wiring is correct.
