So I just bought a 97 528i stick shift when I test drove it everything seemed fined but I noticed later that if I get into the pedal(flooring) the rpm will go up really quick to redline than shoot back down and start going back up normally. When the rpms shoot up the first time the car doesn’t even go that fast but the when they go down it’s like it catches something and feel normal. Does anyone have any idea on what the problem may be? I can shift into every gear no problem no grinds Nd The car also has the trifecta of lights(brake asc and abs lights on) plz help. thank you
Well there's 1000 threads on trifecta lights, and since you know the term you probably can figure out how to read the threads on that. There are multiple possible issues for the trifecta and a 'typical troubleshooting' procedure but its silly to just reiterate that all over again - if you find the normal stuff and have a specific question or want feedback on your best diagnosis once you've checked it out, then post back for sure, in meantime 'read up'.
The RPMs - Easy. That's a bad clutch son. Hopefully its' just the clutch and won't need a flywheel but you'll find out when you get in there. A Luk clutch kit isn't too expensive, its the labor if you have to pay to have it done that is the tricky bit.
