Secondhand E38 wheels are as rare as rocking horse poo on this side of the continent. I have found a set of Advan RS2 staggered with 8.5" 245/40/19 front and 9.5" 275/35/19 Bridgestone Potenza's with correct PCD and centre bore but ET35. Can 12mm spacers do the trick so they will fit the E38? I was planning to go with new wheels but the funds are getting spent on less exciting things at the moment. My only concern is the ride with 19's as I was planning to go with 18's

Yes you can certainly add 12mm spacers to get to your desired offset.
FYI I wanted to do only 10mm spacers on my wheels (which are a bit wider than yours) and ran into some fitment issues on the hub which I detailed here: https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...-wheel-spacers . Short version is that under 12mm you have to get properly designed ones which fit the stock hubs - H&R for sure and probably Turner Motorsports as well.

D-S-X was incredibly impressive. Very low-cost compared to others, and perfectly machines. High-quality spacers will bolt to the hub, then allow the wheel to bolt to them as long as they are thick enough. Then there's the thickness around the bolts themselves, some spacers will cheap out and only give 1-2mm of material after the threaded insert, which isn't so good for longevity.

You will need 15 mm spacers for your fitment needs. I run a 30MM spacer on the front of my 740i as i have the Dinan E46 M3 Wheel set staggered. I run a 20 MM spacer in the rear. I have no rubbing issues. Wheels are 19 inches, front tire is 255/40 and rear is a 285/35 if I am not mistaken. I like the turn in feeling of the 19’s.
I agree that I would rather run a 15mm with those wheels on the E38. You could even get away with a 20mm in the rear.

Thanks for the feedback guys. How did you find the ride quality with 19's? I was looking at Burger Motor Sports spacers @ around $99 USD pair with longer lug nuts

I just put on my 18's that I refinished. Had my 19's on for the last 6 months and I love the ride quality of the 18's. The car feels much more " one with the road". Might be the tires but I can't say for sure. Love the 18's.
Lets get the party started before it's my bedtime.
My car rides amazing with 19's on H&R springs with Bilstein HD's.
