Trans program!!

I have a 1994 540i. I just bought it and apparently the guy before me did an engine swap on it with the same motor from the same year and model. Well I just replaced the MAF sensor and every time I drive it shoots me a trans program. I unplugged the MAF trying to diagnose the issue and it automatically shoots the trans program message across the dash. At first I thought it was the TCM but now I'm thinking its a intake issue. Any help would be amazing right now, since I'm at the point of parking it in a field and shooting the shit out of it 😂😂

Trans program is the transmission issue, has little to do with MAF. Plug in appropriate scanner and see what the car tells you.

Well, actually, in this car, if the MAF is bad or unplugged, you'll immediately get a trans program light, and codes for the DME not providing torque information to the EGS.

You need to find someone with a scan tool with appropriate BMW software to talk with this old car through the diag port underhood, because there are many issues which can cause that warning. A smoke test of the intake system would be wise, too, since a large intake leak gives the same result as a bad MAF, except it takes longer.

No trans fault before the new MAF? Is it okay with the old one? What were symptoms that lead to MAF replacement?
