    Computer compatibillity issues

I recently purchased a K+DCAN USB INPA software and wire connector kit. It states I have to assign COM1 to the USB serial port (COM X). My HP computer is all USB, how do I assign a USB port to a COM port and call it COM port 1?
The instructions state to go to Device Manager, then Ports (COM & LPT). My computer does not have that option.

Make sure you have cable plugged in to laptop (any usb port) when you attempt this.

It is a software defined com port number, and your (Windows) computer will have the option. What windows are you on?
    See if this helps:

It can be any COM port number, as long as it matches what is written in the OBD.ini file found in C:\ediabas\bin folder.

Let us know if you need help reaching Device manager.
