This might be a dumb question, maybe..
I'm looking to buy new headlights for my car as it currently has some Hella black knock offs that I'm not into. I was looking around and found some information that indicated that all assemblies comes without bulbs installed so these has to be moved over from the old headlights. Is this correct? Do I need to buy bulbs to go with the headlights? I am somewhat pressed for time so I would like to order everything at once instead of having to wait another week for a second delivery with bulbs if it turns out its not preinstalled in the assemblies.
I'm thinking of going with TYC headlights.
Thankful for information on this!
Yes, all new headlights come without bulbs. The bulb type may not be the same between your aftermarket ones and the new ones you want to buy.
Actually for a lot of gm assemblies they come prefitted with bulbs probably not bmw
Thanks for the answers. It would make more sense if they came complete and ready to be bolted on so I never thought about it until I read of a guy who moved his old bulbs over to his new headlights.
I've never had a car where bulbs came with new headlight assemblies. Including this BMW.
Depending on which headlights you purchase (factory projectors or freeform, various aftermarket) the bulbs can and will be different.
If your car came with the factory projectors, they will use an H1 bulb. Freeforms use 9005 if im not mistaken. Unfortunately since you currently have aftermarket housings, the bulb could be whatever the manufacturer designed it for and the PO could have soldered in new harnesses to suit.
