My trunk was jammed and would not open, I looked around online and many said to go through the inside ski pass and remove the 10mm holding the latch. So I did and still no luck, what could be the issue? The car has been sitting and the battery is dead.
There is a rod connected to the trunk latch from the inside. You may be able to dislodge it when pulling the trunk lock out from the outside. The point of removing the the 2x10mm bolts is the losen the trunk lock to be able to pull out from the outside. Then you reach into the hole and there is a lever you push to the side and that will release the trunk.
Check and see if your gas tank door cover is unlocked and the gas tank door is open. If so, depress the lock. This should unlock the trunk.

ha!! I had no idea that works!! nice trick...thanks for that!! :-)
dude, if that works, that is badass. I would have never thought of that
No e30s again.
Another thought. Could you use jumper cables at the battery junction under the hood and release the electronic lock that way?
