2003 E65 w 157K miles. Car was misfiring. Error code P1347 - misfire cyl 3. Replaced all the coils and spark plugs. Still misfiring. Have not checked the error codes since replacing everything. Maybe there is something else there? Any ideas what else it could be? I am getting scared. Might have to take it to a BMW dealer - BMW mechanic ($$$$$).
Any other problems?
Checked for vac leaks?
Possibly. I am new to BMWs. I am fairly mechanically capable. Maintained/repaired my Mercedes E300D myself for 15 years. Bought this 745 Li last fall. Hands down the finest, most comfortable car I have ever owned. This is the first time I have been under the hood other than changing the oil. The "Check Engine" light was on when I bought it. I suppose I should not have been so lazy. Don't know what turned it on. Wouldn't know where to start for "vac leaks". Are there any system diagrams around? That stuff was pretty readily available in the Mercedes community. Thanks for the quick response. I have made an appointment with the BMW shop on Monday. I just hate paying him $105/hour for something I could do.

Had similar issues with my B7 a while back, also replaced coils and plugs and it was only slightly better. Turned out to be a fuel filter/pressure regulator. I changed that and all is well.

My first guess, aside from coils, would be intermediate levers and rockers. If that's the case, you're in for a large bill. It's not something the average DIY-er could do himself.
But properly diagnosing a misfire, that's not a simple coil, plug or injector, would be a compression and leak down test. Be prepared to open your wallet. Did no one warn you against buying an early E65? They're total garbage.

As I suggested on the other forum, get it diagnosed. That is the quickest way to getting it figured out. While most of the time it is something simple, everything here will be nothing more than a guess - some will frighten you and others will seem like a simple solution.

So I took TxGR8White's advice and had it diagnosed. Here is what I wrote on the other site - Thanks for all the help. This maintenance gripe is now closed. Looks like there may have been a bad coil. Unfortunately when I replaced them all I did not snap down the harness connector to coil properly on a couple of them. Sloppy on my part. Good part is he didn't charge me anything! I believe I have found my BMW mechanic. This a full service BMW shop with certified BMW mechs. For the record his name is Skylar, owner of Bavarian Auto Gruppe in Gainesville FL.
Hello,
I would change the fuel filter first, buy an injector cleaner on fill up. put 750LI on the freeway and put your foot in it. My
2004 BMW 760LI had a Misfire issue that was my solution, in December 2017.
