Came across this 79 633CSI. I can buy it for $1000.00. I've never restored a car before but I got YouTube and lots of tools!! Seriously, I can get this for a grand. I'm willing to put in the time and $$$ to restore. Solid car no rust.
Or do you think a 1998 318is (running 145k miles no rust)/ for $1300 is a better deal?

I second this motion.
That’s a decently clean 6er, but tschultz is right. My primary issue with older (pre ‘83) 6-series cars is lack of parts availability. You’d spend more time trying to hunt down parts than actually working on the car, and that gets frustrating. The E28 chassis cars (‘83-‘89) are much easier to source parts for, both new and used. So in this case, I’d go for the 318is.

Thanks for all the good advice I ended up not getting either. A very nice 840CI came across my way and got that instead!

You got an 840Ci? For how much and in what condition? That's a great alternative for a 633.

1997 with 104k miles. Looks wonderful. Lots of documents. Very clean car for 11K
Nice. We need pics. I'm a big fan of the 8 series.
