I knew something had to go wrong and it did lol. I ordered and received from Taïwan the following 3 electrical gauges:
- oil pressure
- oil temp
- AFR
Before placing my order I asked the CSR representative if everything I needed to install them was included and she said yes.
Now that they've arrived I see that there is no sandwich plate, or as they call it, "sensor attachment" (see description attached + everything that came with the oil pressure gauge, which is pretty much the same for the oil temp, except with a different sensor). Ordering one might be a PITA since most US/European merchants don't make deliveries to Morocco, and I don't want to order something that is not 100% reliable OEM quality from an unknown Asian merchant.
So basically is there a place I could tap into directly on the M52TUB28 engine for that purpose (oil temp+ oil pressure)? I was thinking about replacing the OEM sensor in the oil pan, but I'm not sure it would fit or even if it does, work (at least for the pressure one).
The AFR is probably easier, but I haven't looked into it so far since the oil gauges are the ones that matter the most to me...
Edit: about the threads sizes, it says "1/8NPT" for both of them. I have also attached a pic of the oil temp sensor, if that helps.

Could it be that simple? I have no idea what these bolts are going through ot if oil goes through there as well.
For the oil temp/pressure, you want a ODB. Oil distribution block. Something similar in purpose as this was used on my 99 M3 when the euro motor went in, I can't say if this will work with your engine, although the listing seems to say, yeah.

Thanks, I will check it out!
Yup, that's the one
But I guess I'll have to wait for a while before placing the order
Not that it's expensive, especially if it's good quality and at such a sensitive place, but I had ordered the gauges before my engine blew up and now I'm hurting lol.
This is kind of annoying for me because I'm going to have two useless gauges sticking around for a while, before I can order the ODB and for some reason I hate that idea
In the meantime, I'm thinking of using the OEM oil pressure sensor (see pic attached)and just wiring the OP gauge to it, without using its sensor. It sounds doable to me, but can someone confirm please?
The oil temp sensor is a different story, I have no idea if I can find a workaround for it...
You already have an oil temp and pressure sensor in the oil filter housing, just see about tapping into those: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=11_2201

Your aftermarket gauges probably won’t read the factory sensors properly.
Whatever you do, do not remove/disable the factory oil temp sensor in the oil pan. The DME needs that signal for many routines.

I won't. I checked and it would not fit anyway. At this point I'm really hoping I can leave all OEM sensors in place and just tapp into their wires, as shown on the diagram shared by dworthy. Easiest, safest solution IMO since I don't want to risk an oil leak due to aftermarket accessories. The second best solution IMO would be an aluminium oil filter cover replacement with 2 1/8" NPT ports on top of it.

You need additional ports to keep what you have and add more sensors. This is a better price for something that should work. https://www.rallyroad.net/products/o...ribution-block
The stock OP sender won't work for a gauge. It's open or closed, meaning the oil light will be on or off. Not what you need for a gauge that is displaying a range of values.

Thanks. I don't think this one will work since I need two 1/8" NPT ports on top of the M12x1.5 factory sensor port (I have oil pressure + oil temp to fit).
If it doesn't work I'll go with the filter cover solution since it will not take additional space under the hood and add a nice aluminium touch.
