Hey guys, I just bought my first E21. Super clean, lots of restoration done by korman. I've noticed a squeak that I cannot pin down. Korman checked the entire suspension and found no problems. The wheel bearings are all new. The squeak only occurs when the car is moving, and squeaks more when going over a bump. It kind of sounds like it's coming from the dash.
Any suggestions at all what I should look for? or tips on how to find it?
Control arm to sway bar bushing? Is it poly-something and not rubber?

did you install poly steering rack bushings? did you put some grease on them beforehand? does the squeak happen less when the roads are wet?
no poly bushings that I'm aware of... I'll have to talk to the guy who worked on the car at korman to verify, and I'll put the car up on jack stands and poke around this weekend.
got a sunroof? at mine there was a noise in the area of the a-pillar that was getting me nuts. squeaking was coming from the front of the sunroof frame. removed it to check, screw it back and get all screws tight. Never had any problems with noises there.
from the dash.....i would reach up under the dash on the right side of the steering column and tighten the knurled nut holding the instruments. i have had to do this on a couple of cars now.

The center console panel and ashtray on my car used to squeak because one of the screw mounts was broken.
Try pushing lightly on each part of the dash and see if you can replicate the noise.
See if the dash rubs the door panel(s). Center console under the dash (under HVAC) may be missing felt material and would squeak too.

thanks for all the replies. I've since learned that the steering rack bushing and front sways bushings are all poly, gotta find some time to lube em all up.
