    Performance chip problem

Hi guys, I have an early 1987 M6, and recently tried installing a Conforti/ turner, chip. When I opened my ECU part #0-261-200-079, I found that the original chip was soldered in, not in a socket. I took the ECU to my local electronics shop, and had them professionally remove the chip and install a socket. Problem is, the stock chip works perfectly, but the Conforti chip is a no start. I had Turner send me a replacement, same thing. I happened to have a Dinan chip from my old M6, and it wont start either! I'm aware of the divot, and each time I replace the stock chip it starts right up and runs perfectly! I've felt the difference on these cars and know the performance gain is substantial. Is there something different about the ECU's that had the chips soldered in? Help if you can! Dan

Chip is soldered in 059 ecu then you got 0 261 200 059 ECU that someone put a 0 261 200 079 lid on it.

The chip in my 059 ecu is not soldered and I suspect none of them came that way.

Replace the ECU/DME and you can enjoy your Performance chip, Had to do the same, Bought a used one on Eflay. Just be sure you replace with the correct DME, 059 has 2, One is a 24 pin and the other is 28 pin.

The ECU 0-261-200-079 had two stock chips with the same number of pins, a 355-786 and a 355-210. Dinan makes two diff chips depending on which stock chip you had so Conforti does the same? Dinan has a 3422 and a 3421 and I can tell you they do not interchange, wrong chip=no start for same number ECU.
