    F10 535

    Good day ( or night ) ,

been lurking , huge Bmw fan since always now decided to register with a first ''help'' post !

    TLR version

Just bought a brand new 2016 Bmw 535 that has 70km.

Dealership didn't help much so I decided to ask the fellow enthusiast ,

    - When do I do the first oil change ?
(car has been sitting at the dealership for 2 years, its brand new , no info on wether it was done or re-done)

    - For how many km do I break-in it ? (3-5rpm in all gears with good highway driving ?)

P.S. Still excited as a little child on Christmas Eve awaiting to open its presents

Thanks for the help in advance

    Welcome to the Forum!

Not sure in Canada what kind of maintenance program they have, however if you feel uncomfortable with the oil, I would just pay them to change it. Otherwise just wait for the service indicator in the I-Drive to tell you.

For the first 800KM, just take it easy, do not keep the same rpm's over an extended period of time, say 10 minutes, and keep it below 4.5k.

I would have a look at the tyres for flat spots, for if it has been sitting for so long, there is a good chance you will have some. You will feel it in the seat of your pants as you drive like a thump, thump. Sometimes after a couple of km's it will go away, but if it doesn't make sure you let them know.

Definitely agree with Darin. Change that oil and filter ASAP. I’d ask the dealer to do this for free as you’ve taken a car that no one seems to have wanted off the dealer’s hands.
Also, I believe the break in period is 1200 miles/2000km. I know that some folks say “screw the break in period, drive it like you stole it.” I strongly disagree with that!
Lastly, once you’ve completed the break in mileage/kilometerage (haha), change the oil and filter again. Why? Engines are assembled using various lubes and adhesives. The oil flushes out these and other remnants of the assembly process during the break in period.

So, once you’ve completed the break in period and have changed the oil/filter, it’s timd to drive the car like it was designed to be driven. Don’t baby it. Treat it like a woman: let it warm up slowly, and the.mn have fun.

A little question , My trunk tool kit only has a screw driver and a hook for the bumper ,

What else should be there ? First aid ? Was that an option or someone took it out of my car ?

Mine looks somewhat like this :

I would say that you are missing a couple of things: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=71_0538

The grayed out numbers are for the Euro cars.

I would go back to the dealership and inquire about your missing stuff. While it isn't much for cost wise, but they should have checked that before hand.

If anything is missing, it's only the screwdriver. They don't come with any tools anymore except the tow hook, and MAYBE the screwdriver.

Yes, should be a warning triangle and first aid kit. The NA market normally didn't get both, as it isn't a mandatory requirement to have.
