    Remove Wiper Assembly

I trying to remove the wiper assembly in my 2003 E46 (325i SAL). I've removed the wiper arms, cowl panel cover and heater bulkhead. I've removed the 10mm bolt in the back (with the big washer for the rubber grommet) and have the nuts off the wiper studs.

TIS sez' I should simply be able to 'feed out complete wiper console through opening in heater bulkhead'

Yeah ... something else must have to give. I can't drop either wiper stud low enough to get the assembly out ... it seems like there is too much wiper motor in the way.

I seem to recall that it was much easier to do if the wipers were left half way up I want to say.

Well, there is a trick. If one doesn't do step 15, "Working in wiper cowl area on left side, remove right wiper linkage by prying up with a flat-head screwdriver (green arrow).", the heater box won't let you drop the Right Wiper Pivot low enough to get the unit out!

This will allow you to pull the right side bellcrank in toward the motor (as if the right wiper was parked vertically) and stop the heater box from blocking removal ... parking the wipers vertically before trying to remove the unit may also work, Mless5.

    Thanks, Pelican Parts!

    Two Z3 Roadsters
Go to www.RealOEM.com enter the last 7 digits of your VIN number and you will be able to search for parts specific to your X5. Sorry, this is an E46 forum and I know nothing about X5's.
    1999 2.8L Z3 Roadster,
    2000 3.0L Z3 Roadster,

There is only one thing more pleasurable than working on a Z3, that's driving it top down on a fine day.
